The Tornado
Well a terrible thing happened this past month. A tornado hit Emily's room!! So today we fixed her room and made sure there wasn't any permanent damage :)

Emily's Bathtime Dance
One night while giving Emily a bath she started dancing to the radio. It made me smile because she reminded me of my grandma because it's the same dance she used to do. You know the one we called the "Finger Dance."
*Please excuse the fact that she is naked in the bath :)*
Happy 4th Birthday Emmy-Lou!!
Can you believe that our baby girl turned 4 today? I can't! It seems like it was just yesterday that she was asleep in my arms...oh wait...that was yesterday she crawled into my bed a little after midnight :) I'm just kidding...I do miss the little baby days. You know the days where she would just lay in her crib or her swing and I didn't have to worry about what she was getting into. Like right now when at 11:00 at night she is supposed to be in her bed but I can see her crawling down the hall talking to the cat.

On her way to school
All of a sudden she is this little person. She's no longer a baby. Today while Wade was putting clothes in the dryer she walked up to him and said "Wade what are you doing?" not "Daddy what are you doing?" she called him Wade! Oh and you now have to watch what you say around her because she will get you for it. The number one word we are not allowed to say is stupid. You might say it and not even realize it but she will catch you and she will tell you "Don't say stupid." and you actually have to apologize to the four year old that you said a bad word that you don't even remember saying.
Today was a very busy day in the Holder house. Emily went to school early so mommy could go to school and study for her Anatomy Lab Test. Then at about 3:00 I took two dozen cupcakes to her class so they could sing her Happy Birthday. It was wonderful seeing all the kids faces turn neon colors :)
After cupcakes we went to HEB to buy stuff to make a cake at home so we could sing Happy Birthday with Daddy when he got home from work. Mommy decided it would be easier to make a cake rather than buying one. Ummm I bake all the time. I mean all the time. I make most of the cakes for people at work. So how is it that I messed up the one cake that actually meant a lot to me? First I baked the stupid thing on 275 degrees rather than 325 and didn't realize until it had taken almost an hour for the thing to bake. Then when it was done and cooled down I went to flip it onto a flat pan and the stupid (there's that word again) thing broke in three pieces. I'm sure you know that my temper was starting to flare because it's not like I've never done this before!! But I put the cake back together and frosted it and eventhough it's funky shaped it still worked out.
We sang Happy Birthday when Daddy got home and Mommy made everyone take about 100 pictures...mostly because I didn't like the way I looked in any of them. I've noticed that since I've lost 26 pounds I have to make sure that I don't look "fat" in any of them. I think I'm becoming obsessed. But that's a whole different blog :)
Well anyways here's the pictures from today...enjoy :)
On her way to school
Posing with her weird looking cake :) Can you tell which part she put the sprinkles on and which side Mommy did.
Mommy and baby (or should I say big girl?)
Happy Family eventhough Wade doesn't look like it :)
Blowing out her candles
Looking at her singing Little Mermaid card that came with her present.
She got Snow White and was super happy.

Happy Birthday Taylor!
In honor of my sister's birthday I have put together a little slideshow celebrating her. I'm sorry there is no sound because I couldn't figure out how to add it.
Taylor, I love you so much!

The craziest week of my life...EVER!
This week was absolutely crazy!!! So be warned ahead of time that this is going to be quite long, but I'll put pictures in along the way to keep you entertained.
This week started on Monday when I received a text from Wade during my Biology class. The text was to tell me that Emily had a fever of 102.7. Might I add that this is a three hour class and it had just started. I know what you are thinking...she was okay because she was home with her daddy and he can take care of her. Well let me tell you that I am one of those moms that think I have to be there for my daughter at all times and that noone can take care of her like I can. I know I shouldn't be that way but I can't help it, she's my baby.
Well Tuesday was my day off so instead of spending the day studying and running errands I stayed home with my sick child. She continued to run a fever all day and it stayed at just below 103 for most of the day. Then at about 4:00 she started to get alot warmer. Her fever started to go above 103 and started to reach 104. Of course I started to get scared. She was laying sprawled out on the couch with her eyes half open and wouldn't respond to me. I've never had a child do this around me so I had no idea what to do, so of course I did the one thing I know how to do...I called my mom immediately. She told me to put her in a luke warm bath tub to lower her body temp and to give her motrin instead of Tylenol. The bath tub worked for about 20 minutes but thankfully the Motrin started to kick in and her temperature came back down to below 103.
Okay now on to Wednesday...the worst day of the week. Wade stayed home with Emily because I had to return to work (of course she had to get sick during the one week that we are extremely short handed at work). I called home every 30 minutes to check up on her. Her temperature stayed at about 102-103. Well when I came home I found Emily laying on the couch naked with cold wet cloths on her. Her temperature had begun to spike again. She was crying and saying that her head hurt. I told Wade that it was time to take her to the emergency clinic. At least if we took her and they told me it's just a virus and to let it run its course I would know that she was okay. When we left the house her temperature was at 103.5, the highest it had been yet. In the clinic when they took her temperature it was already up to 104.8. The nurse immediately gave Emily motrin. Then the doctor came in to check her out. He said that what she has probably started out as a virus but because of the virus and the high temperature she developed a massive ear infection in her right ear. (she didn't complain about her ear hurting until earlier that day) They then took her temperature again since it had been 30 minutes since giving her motrin. Her fever was up to 105.6. Things were starting to get very scary for me!! They gave her a popsicle and gatorade to try and cool her down but she didn't want either one. We had to stay there until her fever started to go down. Me being the way that I am started to cry because I couldn't believe that I had let her be so sick. I know it wasn't my fault and that there was nothing I could do. But still as her mother I felt like I should have been able to make her feel better. We finally took her home with antibiotics and orders to give her tylenol and motrin every four hours. I am happy to report that she did not run a fever again once we were able to get it down Wednesday night.
Thursday Wade stayed home with her again. She never ran a fever but she was moody and extremely tired. In fact when I got home she was a screaming crying mess. Of course it was because she was still not feeling very well.
Finally Friday came. I decided to take her back to school since she had been fever free and on antibiotics for over 24 hours. She did good, she was just a little low on energy.

This is how she looked that night:
Yay she was feeling better!
Now to talk about me :) In January I decided that I was going to loose all the weight that I have slowly added on since leaving highschool in 2001. Plus the extra weight from having Emily. I started watching what I've been eating and haven't had a real soda since then. I have also joined Weight Watchers with two of my co-workers. Things have been going well. This week I had to weigh in on Saturday instead of Thursday like usual because of Emily being sick. Well this week I lost 1.8 pounds which is the most weight that I have lost in one week over the last 6 weeks that I have been a member. This now brings up my total weight loss to 4.6 pounds. This is how much I have lost since joining WW. Before that I had already lost about 10 pounds or so. I started out weighing 145 and I now weigh 130. I am looking forward to hopefully losing more weight this next week and not only getting my 5 pound star but also weighing less than 130 which I haven't done since 2001. I must admit that I feel great! I am starting to notice the little differences in my body and have gone from a size 12 to a size 10. I am probably smaller than that since I already need to buy new jeans eventhough I just did about two or three weeks ago.
Okay I just had to toot my own horn up there :)
Now onto our weekend. Saturday we went to Sea World. Since Emily was feeling soooo much better and Wade and I actually had the same day off we figured it was the perfect day to go. Plus it was so nice outside. It happened to be family Praise Day which was good for us because a Christian band that I love was there. We went to all the great shows except for the sealion show :(, there just wasn't enough time. Emily's favorite thing at Sea World is the sharks, which of course excites me because sharks are my favorite too.
Here are some pictures of our great day!
He tried to come up the wall to get our fish :)

It's been over a month since my last one???
I just realized that I haven't written a new blog in over a month. Where did all the time go?? I know exactly where it went, it flew by without even stopping to say "Hello".
School has been INSANE!!! I started this semester taking 13 hours but I am going to drop my government class because my Biology class takes all my attention. So when I drop this class it would drop me down to 10 hours, but I just found out that my Sociology class that is supposed to start in March has been cancelled. Now I am only taking 7 hours. I am a little upset that it's only 7 because that now adds another semester until I'm finished, but it's probably a blessing in disguise because I was really starting to stress out there for a little while. Now I can relax and focus on only two classes. Well those two classes and my full time job and my overly energetic three year old!
This past Thursday I was honored at an evening banquet at work. It was really nice. We had a wonderful dinner and my awesome friend/coworker, Josh, went with me. (Wade had to work) I got to buy a new dress and new shoes, I felt like I looked wonderful! Then I get there and find out that in order to receive my certificate I actually have to walk up to the front of the room and walk across the stage, in front of about 150 people! I'm sure all of you are thinking that I fell. I don't blame you for thinking this because falling is what I do best. I myself was terrified. I knew it was inevitable that I was going to fall. Well I am glad to report that I did not fall :) I was shocked and well to be honest so was Josh, Shannon, my boss, and the other two coworkers who were there with me.
What else is new in the Holder house?
We have recently found out that we have to move this April. As much as I love my apartment they have decided to raise our rent if we renew our lease and with the economy the way it is we just can't afford it anymore. We have found a new apartment to move into. Funny enough it is the complex next door to the first apartments we lived in. Maybe we should have just stayed there? It's okay because we have loved our past year here and we would stay if we could.
I guess that is all that has been going on in the past month. We are just crazy and busy like usual. I'm trying to think of what wonderfully crazy things Emily has done lately but I think I'm too tired. I will think of some and be sure to post them for you.

School started again this week...
I started school again on Monday. This semester is going to be just as crazy as all the others, if not worse. I am taking Biology I on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:00-10:00. I am also taking US/TX Government, American History II, and a sociology class on the Internet.
Monday was my first night of class. It went well for being just the introduction class. But then I went to class tonight and that was a whole different story! Tonight was our first Lab session and I bombed terribly! I am in this class where more than half of the other students are like 18, 19, and 20. I know that some of you are saying "Jeez Sarah you are so old..." But think about it like this. These other students graduated from high school and took biology about 2,3,4 years ago. I haven't taken Freshman Biology in almost 12 years!! We are sitting there in class and we have to do some conversion problem that asks how many grams of proteins and fat are in a 1/4 lb hamburger when there is 20% of each in the burger. Okay that's not exact but now you understand how lost I am!!! We have to convert pounds to grams and liters to milliliters and all this other stuff. My lab partner and I are both lost in class (she's a month older than me) and the young couple (remember the days when you you used to take a class just because your boyfriend would be in it) are whizzing right through the problems with out batting an eye. It's so sad when I keep having to ask the 19 year old boyfriend and girlfriend to help me answer a problem. Then it's even worse when they try to tell me how to answer it without giving me the answer and I'm even more lost then I was to begin with.
You better start praying for me now! This is going to be a LLLOOONNNGGG semester. Hopefully my only hard class will be this Biology one and I will soar right through the other three like usual. I can handle one hard class but not all four!
Love you guys!!

2008 Re-cap
2008 was a wild year for us. I finished two (well three if you count summer) more semesters of school. I don't know where I got so smart but this past semester I made an A in Art Appreciation, a B in World Literature, a B in Computer Literacy, and a C in World Civilization. I am very happy to report that since starting back to school over a year ago I have made nothing but A's and B's aside from this past C. Yay Me!

Christmas was a very good and eventful time for us. We celebrated 7 different times! It all started with my work Christmas Dinner at La Hacienda. It was so much fun. Plus who doesn't love margaritas and enchiladas? My wonderful secret santa, Shawn, bought me two wine glasses, two bottles of wine, and a big box of chocolates. Exactly what was on my Christmas list! After this party we had two in one day. We started off with Christmas at Grammy Susu's (Susan). It was a nice relaxing brunch and Emily had a blast with all her new toys. That same night was our family's CRAZY Chinese Christmas party. I have to admit that this is my favorite Christmas event of all! It is so wonderful when we can all be together having fun, eating tamales, and drinking. Plus we love to fight over the gifts. Surprisingly it wasn't that crazy this year, well except for Stephanie and Uncle Bobby. Next was Christmas eve with my mom, brother, and sister. This tradition we started after my dad died where we go out to dinner with a few close friends and then we open our presents. I love this tradition too because I like being with my family. I really miss being there on Christmas morning to see them open their presents. Especially Taylor when she gets her gifts from Santa. :) I'm not going to go into detail with the other two christmas parties. It would be too long.
Emily was so much fun for Christmas. This was the first year that she was able to finally understand what was going on. Let me tell you she made out like a bandit!! Apparently this was "big present" year. We bought Emily a vanity with the head of Sleeping Beauty that you can fix her hair and her makeup. Then Grammy Susu got her this huge pink chair for her to watch TV in, and Wade's parents bought her this big desk for art. I guess that people don't know that we live in a little itty bitty apartment :) It's okay though I made everything fit...don't ask me how!
Here are some of my favorite pictures from this Christmas. Enjoy!
